Abstract : Persatuan Sejarah Malaysia |
The historical connection between Brunei and Pahang can significantly be traced back to the late sixteenth century through the royal marriage between Puteri Lamturak binti Sultan saiful Rijal of Brunei and Sultan Abd. Ghafar ibni Sultan Abd. Kadir of Pahang in the 1570's. Another less prominent marriage linking the two states is that of Wan Ahmad bin Engku Khatib and Dang Khatijah a princess from Brunei. This marriage received the blessings of the Sultan of Brunei as ' his token of appreciation for Wan Ahmad's contribution towards settling the internal troubles in Brunei in the 1890's. This article relates historical accounts between Brunei and Pahang up to the early twentieth century and the relationship clearly attests the presence of Malay of Brunei decent in Ulu Tembeling, Pahang. |
